V-Qal-Imperf.Cohort-1cs  |  17× in 1 sense
Exult, rejoice jubilantly — to triumph with exuberant gladness, used of praise to God, cosmic rejoicing, and even the boasting of the wicked.
A verb expressing exuberant, even ecstatic joy — stronger than ordinary gladness, it connotes triumphant exultation. Habakkuk 3:18 captures its theological core: 'I will exult in the God of my salvation,' pairing it with the synonymous gîl. Zephaniah 3:14 summons daughter Zion to 'exult!' alongside singing and rejoicing. Yet the word is not reserved for the righteous: Jeremiah 50:11 and Psalm 94:3 apply it to enemies and the wicked who gloat in their temporary success. Even creation joins in — Psalm 96:12 has the fields exulting before the Lord. Spanish 'exulten' and 'alégrese' together capture its dual notes of triumph and deep gladness.

Senses
1. exult, rejoice jubilantly To exult or rejoice with jubilant triumph, expressing exuberant and sometimes ecstatic gladness. It appears in theophanic praise (Ps 60:6; 108:7, where God himself exults), in summons to worship (Zeph 3:14; Ps 68:4; 149:5), in personal testimony of joy (Ps 28:7; Hab 3:18), and negatively of the wicked's gloating (Ps 94:3; Jer 51:39). Cosmic creation exults in Psalm 96:12. The word parallels simah ('rejoice') and gîl ('be glad'), but carries a heightened sense of outward, vocal triumph. 17×
