To bend, bow down, be bowed; of the afflicted or humble bowing before God
Kaphaph conveys the physical and spiritual act of bending or bowing down, whether under the weight of distress or in deliberate worship. In Psalm 57:6, the psalmist's soul is 'bowed down' under persecution, while Isaiah 58:5 questions whether merely bowing one's head like a rush constitutes true fasting. The passive participle 'the bowed down' (kephufim) in Psalms 145:14 and 146:8 becomes a tender designation for the afflicted whom the Lord raises up. Micah 6:6 uses the reflexive niphal for bowing oneself before God in worship.

Senses
1. sense 1 To bend, bow down, or be bowed -- describing physical posture under affliction or in worship. Spanish 'encorvados/encorvó' ('hunched/bowed') and French 'courber' ('to bend') capture the bodily imagery. In Psalm 57:6 and Isaiah 58:5, the bowing is metaphorical for distress or ritual humility. The passive participle in Psalms 145:14 and 146:8 designates the afflicted whom God lifts up. Micah 6:6 uses the niphal reflexive for prostrating oneself before the Most High, bridging posture and devotion.
