N-fs  |  6× in 1 sense
Knowledge, understanding; awareness of God or of truth, used of both human insight and divine omniscience.
A feminine abstract noun derived from the verb yada' (to know), denoting knowledge or understanding. In Hannah's song (1 Sam 2:3), God is called 'el de'ot -- a God of knowledge -- using the majestic plural to express the fullness of divine awareness. The psalmist in Psalm 73:11 wrestles with whether the Most High possesses knowledge of human affairs. In Isaiah and Jeremiah the word describes the prophetic knowledge that ideal rulers and teachers will impart. Elihu claims 'perfect knowledge' in Job 36:4, hinting at the boldness of human wisdom claims. Spanish 'conocimiento' and German 'Erkenntnis' both capture the sense of deep, experiential knowing rather than mere information.

Senses
1. knowledge, understanding Knowledge, understanding, or awareness as an abstract quality. Used of divine omniscience (1 Sam 2:3, where the plural de'ot emphasizes the fullness of God's knowing), of human apprehension of God's ways (Ps 73:11; Isa 11:9), and of prophetic or wisdom instruction (Isa 28:9; Jer 3:15). The multilingual glosses -- Spanish 'conocimiento,' French 'connaissance,' German 'Erkenntnis' -- all point to experiential, relational knowledge rather than bare factual awareness.
