Spoil, plunder, booty — material goods seized from defeated enemies in warfare or raiding
The feminine noun בִּזָּה (bizzah) denotes spoil, plunder, or booty taken from defeated enemies. It appears exclusively in late biblical texts — Chronicles, Esther, Nehemiah, Daniel, and one occurrence in 1 Samuel — always referring to material goods seized through military victory or raiding. Asa's forces plundered the surrounding cities after routing Zerah the Cushite (2 Chr 14:14), while in Esther the Jews conspicuously refused to touch the plunder of their slain enemies (Est 9:10, 15-16). Daniel 11:24 describes a future king distributing plunder among his followers. Arabic nahb/ghanimah, Spanish botin/despojo, Hindi lut, and Korean yaktal-mul all converge on the same semantic field.

Senses
1. spoil, plunder, booty Material goods — livestock, possessions, valuables — seized from defeated enemies in the aftermath of battle or raiding. Used of Asa's plunder after the Cushite rout (2 Chr 14:14), the Jews' deliberate refusal of plunder in Esther (9:10, 15-16), and Daniel's vision of a king distributing spoil (11:24). The word's restriction to late texts suggests it may have entered Hebrew through Aramaic contact. Spanish 'botin,' Arabic غَنِيمَة (ghanimah), and Korean 약탈물 (yaktal-mul) all confirm the uniform semantic range. 10×
