to heat, be heated (Aramaic); to make hot, especially a furnace
This Aramaic verb means to heat or be heated, appearing only in Daniel 3 in the account of the fiery furnace. Daniel 3:19 describes Nebuchadnezzar's fury when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego refuse to worship his image: he commands that the furnace be 'heated seven times more than it was usually heated.' The same verse repeats the heating command. Daniel 3:22 notes the lethal result: 'because the king's command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.' The verb emphasizes the intensity of the intended execution and, ironically, the magnitude of God's deliverance.

Senses
1. sense 1 Translations reflect heating action: English 'heated, to-be-heated, to-heat,' Spanish 'estaba-calentado, para-calentar, para-calentarlo,' French and German preserve Aramaic forms. Daniel 3:19 describes the king's command to superheat the furnace sevenfold—an expression of rage and determination to destroy the faithful three. Daniel 3:22 ironically notes that the furnace was so hot it killed the executioners, yet the three Hebrew youths walked unharmed in the flames. The extreme heating magnifies the miracle of their preservation, demonstrating God's power over even the fiercest human wrath.
