Didaskō is the central New Testament verb for teaching and instruction, describing the authoritative impartation of knowledge, doctrine, or ethical guidance. Jesus teaches in synagogues, on hillsides, and by the sea (Matt 4:23; 5:2), and the crowds marvel because he teaches 'as one having authority' (Matt 7:29). The apostles continue this ministry in the early church. A smaller but significant passive strand highlights reception of teaching — Paul insists he was not taught his gospel by any human (Gal 1:12), and believers are reminded of what they were taught (Eph 4:21; Col 2:7).
