This noun denotes a visible, bodily trembling that arises from deep fear, awe, or reverence. At the empty tomb, the women fled in 'trembling and astonishment' (Mark 16:8). Paul came to Corinth 'in weakness and fear and much trembling' (1 Cor 2:3), modeling dependence on God rather than rhetorical skill.
