V-AIA-3S  |  4× in 1 sense
To disclose, report, or make known what was previously hidden or unknown.
This verb means to reveal, report, or inform, with a particular nuance of disclosing something not previously known or bringing hidden information to light. Its New Testament uses span from Jesus's indirect disclosure that God is the God of the living (Luke 20:37, 'Moses showed'), to the religious authorities seeking someone to inform on Jesus's whereabouts (John 11:57), to a nephew's urgent intelligence report about an assassination plot (Acts 23:30), to someone informing a believer about the idolatrous origin of food offered at a meal (1 Cor 10:28). The multilingual evidence -- French 'dénoncer' (to denounce/report), Spanish 'avisara' (to warn), German 'mitteilen' (to communicate) -- highlights different facets of the disclosure act.

Senses
1. sense 1 To disclose, report, or make known something hidden or previously unknown, whether through formal testimony, warning, or revelation. French 'dénoncer' emphasizes the reporting or informing aspect, Spanish 'indicó/avisara' captures the pointing-out and warning nuances, and German 'mitteilen' highlights communication. In Luke 20:37 Moses 'indicates' God's nature at the burning bush; in John 11:57 the authorities demand informants report Jesus's location; in Acts 23:30 a plot is disclosed to the commander; and in 1 Corinthians 10:28 someone reveals that food has been offered to idols.
