To receive what is due (a reward, promise, or recompense); also to bring or carry something to a person or place.
Rooted in the idea of caring for or providing, komizo in the New Testament mostly appears in the middle voice meaning to receive back or obtain something owed — a wage, a promise, a recompense for deeds done in the body (2 Cor 5:10). Spanish translations like 'obteniendo' and 'habría-recibido' capture this transactional flavor well. In one striking exception (Luke 7:37), the active voice surfaces: the sinful woman 'having brought' an alabaster flask of ointment. The shift from receiving to physically carrying reveals the word's older classical sense of conveying or escorting, still alive beneath the dominant NT usage.

Paul uses it in 2 Cor 5:10 and Col 3:25 for the final settlement of accounts before Christ, while Heb 10:36 links it to the endurance needed to 'receive the promise.' In Luke 7:37 the woman 'having brought' (komisasa) an alabaster flask conveys actual transport of an object.
