More than mere information, this compound noun (epi- + gnosis) conveys a thorough, personal, and often transformative knowledge. Paul uses it repeatedly to describe the believer's growing apprehension of God's character and will—whether lamenting that people 'did not see fit to acknowledge God' (Rom 1:28) or praying that the Ephesians receive 'a spirit of wisdom and of knowledge of him' (Eph 1:17). The Spanish rendering 'conocimiento pleno' ('full knowledge') nicely captures the intensified prefix.
