Precipitarse, correr con ímpetu, lanzarse; en sentido figurado, anhelar, desear con inquietud
Verbo que describe un movimiento enérgico y a menudo agresivo: precipitarse, embestir, correr de un lado a otro. En Joel 2:9 los ejércitos de langostas se precipitan por la ciudad; en Nahúm 2:4 los carros se lanzan desbocados por las calles. Proverbios 28:15 compara al gobernante malvado sobre un pueblo pobre con un oso que embiste. Pero esa misma energía inquieta se vuelve hacia adentro en Salmo 107:9 e Isaías 29:8, donde el alma se consume en un anhelo insatisfecho. La distinción en español entre 'correr' para el sentido físico y 'anhelar' para el metafórico refleja bien los dos polos de este vocablo.

1. Precipitarse, embestir — Movimiento físico agresivo: precipitarse, correr con ímpetu, lanzarse hacia adelante. Las langostas se precipitan por la ciudad en Joel 2:9, los saqueadores se lanzan sobre el botín en Isaías 33:4, y un gobernante malvado es como un oso que acecha en Proverbios 28:15. 2. Anhelar, desear con ansia — Extensión metafórica del impulso físico volcado hacia el interior: anhelar, desear con inquietud, consumirse de anhelo. Se usa para el alma que anhela agua en Isaías 29:8 (junto a 'agotado' y 'vacío') y en Salmo 107:9 (junto a 'hambriento').
