N-ms  |  17× in 1 sense
Shame, disgrace, dishonor; the public humiliation resulting from sin, folly, or divine judgment.
A weighty noun in both prophetic and wisdom vocabulary, qalon names the social ruin that follows moral failure or divine sentence. Proverbs repeatedly contrasts it with kavod ('honor'): the wise inherit honor, but shame is the portion of fools (Prov 3:35). Prophets wield it to expose national degradation -- Hosea 4:7 warns that Israel has exchanged its glory for disgrace, and Nahum 3:5 uses it of exposed nakedness as public humiliation. The Spanish 'deshonra' and French 'deshonneur' both reflect this core sense of honor stripped away.

Senses
1. shame, disgrace, dishonor Shame or dishonor as a publicly visible condition, whether personal or national. In wisdom literature it stands opposite kavod ('glory, honor') as the consequence of folly and wickedness (Prov 3:35; 6:33; 11:2). In prophetic usage it denotes the humiliation of nations under divine judgment, sometimes with the graphic image of exposed nakedness (Jer 13:26; Nah 3:5). Job 10:15 applies it to the individual sufferer overwhelmed by disgrace. 17×
