origin, source, place of extraction or birth
A noun denoting origin or source, literally the place from which something was dug out or extracted. Ezekiel uses it three times in oracles of judgment. Of Jerusalem, he speaks of 'your origin and birth' being from Canaan (16:3). Against Pharaoh, he mentions judging him 'in the land of your origin, where you were created' (21:30). And Egypt will be restored 'to the land of their origin' (29:14). The term emphasizes roots, homeland, and ancestral place.
