Challon denotes a window, an opening cut into a wall for light and air, appearing 32 times from the ark to Ezekiel's temple. Noah opens the window of the ark to release the raven and the dove (Gen 8:6), the first biblical window and already a threshold between enclosed safety and the unknown world. Rahab lowers the Israelite spies through her window in the Jericho wall (Josh 2:15), and Michal watches David dancing through one (2 Sam 6:16).
