Wisdom (Aramaic); divinely granted insight, interpretive skill, and comprehensive understanding, especially in Daniel.
This is the Aramaic form of 'wisdom,' appearing exclusively in Daniel and Ezra. In Daniel, wisdom is first an attribute of God himself—'wisdom and might are his' (Dan 2:20)—and then a gift he bestows on those who seek him (2:21, 23). Daniel credits God for the interpretive insight that none of Babylon's sages could supply (2:30). In Daniel 5:11, 14, the queen mother testifies that 'the wisdom of the gods' resides in Daniel. Ezra 7:25 uses the term practically: Ezra is commissioned to appoint judges 'according to the wisdom of your God.' The multilingual glosses consistently render it as 'wisdom/sabiduría,' confirming a unified semantic field.

Senses
1. wisdom Wisdom as divinely imparted insight and understanding, the Aramaic cognate of Hebrew chokmah. Spanish consistently renders 'sabiduría' and English 'wisdom,' while French and German leave the Aramaic forms untranslated in some instances, reflecting the term's technical-theological weight. The word functions in three related registers: as a divine attribute (Dan 2:20), as revelatory gift enabling dream interpretation (Dan 2:21, 23, 30), and as practical judicial-administrative competence (Ezra 7:25). Daniel 5:11, 14 bridges these registers, describing Daniel as possessing 'wisdom like the wisdom of the gods.'
