N-msd  |  3× in 1 sense
hurt, injury, damage; Aramaic
An Aramaic noun denoting harm or damage. It appears when opponents warn that a rebuilt Jerusalem will cause 'damage' to royal revenue (Ezra 4:22), and in Daniel's accounts of protection from harm: the men in the fiery furnace have 'no hurt' (Dan 3:25) and Daniel emerges from the lions' den 'without injury' (Dan 6:23). The Spanish daño, herida and French dommage reflect both physical and financial harm. This is administrative and narrative language: the absence or threat of damage.

Senses
1. sense 1 Denotes harm or damage in three contexts: fiscal damage to the king (Ezra 4:22), absence of physical harm in the furnace (Dan 3:25), and deliverance from injury in the lions' den (Dan 6:23). The multilingual glosses (damage, hurt, daño, dommage) span financial and somatic domains. The word evokes threat and deliverance: what could harm but does not, or what will harm if unchecked.
