N-mp  |  5× in 1 sense
Faithfulness, trustworthiness; the quality of being reliable and steadfast.
Describes the quality of being trustworthy and dependable. In Deuteronomy 32:20, its negative form diagnoses Israel's failure: children 'in whom there is no faithfulness.' Proverbs uses it to characterize a trusty messenger (13:17), a faithful witness (14:5), and a loyal person (20:6). Isaiah 26:2 crowns the concept: the righteous nation that 'keeps faithfulness' may enter God's city. Spanish 'fidelidad' and German 'Treue' both capture this core sense of proven reliability.

Senses
1. sense 1 Trustworthiness and faithfulness as a moral quality, describing persons or conduct that can be relied upon. In Deuteronomy 32:20, its absence ('no emun in them') indicts Israel's unreliability. Proverbs applies it as a qualifier for messengers (13:17), witnesses (14:5), and individuals (20:6), while Isaiah 26:2 makes it the entrance requirement for the righteous city. The German 'Treue' and Spanish 'fidelidad' highlight the relational dimension: this is faithfulness tested and proven over time.
