N-DMP  |  10× in 1 sense
Liar — one who speaks falsehood; applied to the devil, to humans, and even hypothetically to God
The noun ψεύστης (pseustes) means 'liar,' one who habitually or characteristically speaks what is false. Jesus calls the devil 'a liar and the father of lies' (John 8:44), establishing Satan as the archetypal liar. In the same discourse, Jesus warns that anyone who denies knowing God 'is a liar' (John 8:55). Paul cites the provocative maxim 'let God be true and every man a liar' (Rom 3:4). The Johannine epistles develop the concept further: whoever claims to know God but disobeys is 'a liar' (1 John 1:10; 2:4, 22; 4:20; 5:10). Spanish 'mentiroso' and French 'menteur' correspond exactly.

Senses
1. a liar, one who speaks falsehood A liar, one who characteristically utters falsehood. Applied to the devil as the archetypal liar (John 8:44), to human beings universally (Rom 3:4, 'every man a liar,' citing Ps 116:11), and to anyone whose life contradicts their confession of faith (John 8:55; 1 John 1:10; 2:4, 22; 4:20; 5:10). The Johannine usage is especially pointed: denying that Jesus is the Christ, claiming to love God while hating a brother, or saying 'I have not sinned' all earn the label pseustes. Spanish 'mentiroso,' French 'menteur,' and German 'Lügner' all match this personal, characterizing force. 10×
