Phoreo is the frequentative form of phero ('to carry'), emphasizing habitual or characteristic action rather than a single instance. In Matthew 11:8 Jesus asks whether they went out to see a man wearing soft garments, while in John 19:5 Pilate presents Jesus wearing the crown of thorns—a momentary act loaded with symbolic weight. Paul uses phoreo powerfully in 1 Corinthians 15:49: just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so we shall bear the image of the heavenly. Spanish llevar and German tragen both capture this 'carry on one's person' sense naturally.
