The verb speudo expresses urgent, eager movement -- hurrying toward a person, place, or action. Its New Testament occurrences are vivid and concrete: the shepherds hurried to Bethlehem to find the newborn Christ (Luke 2:16), Jesus commanded Zacchaeus to come down quickly from the sycamore tree (Luke 19:5), and Zacchaeus hurried down joyfully (Luke 19:6).
