to come, arrive, be present — a verb of arrival with a distinctive present-tense-with-perfect-sense nuance
Heko is a distinctive Greek verb whose present tense carries the force of a perfect: 'I have come, I am here.' This peculiarity, well attested from Homer onward, gives its 26 NT occurrences a characteristic note of completed arrival and present reality. Jesus warns that 'many will come from east and west' to recline at table with Abraham (Matt 8:11). Prophetic announcements declare that judgment 'has come' or 'will come' upon a generation (Matt 23:36; Luke 19:43). In the parables, the master arrives at an unexpected hour (Matt 24:50; Luke 12:46). Hebrews quotes Habakkuk's promise: 'the coming one will come and will not delay' (Heb 10:37). In Revelation, Christ announces 'I am coming quickly' (Rev 2:25; 3:3). The verb thus often marks the decisive, irreversible moment of arrival — whether of persons, judgment, or eschatological fulfillment. Spanish 'venir/ha venido' and German 'kommen/kommt' capture both the motion and the arrival force.

Senses
1. come, arrive, be present To have come, to arrive and be present, carrying the nuance of completed arrival that characterizes this verb even in present tense forms. Used of persons arriving from distant lands (Matt 8:11), judgment overtaking a generation (Matt 23:36), masters returning unexpectedly in parables (Matt 24:50; Luke 12:46), the promised coming one who will not delay (Heb 10:37), and Christ's eschatological advent (Rev 2:25; 3:3). The present-with-perfect-force distinguishes heko from the more general erchomai. 26×
