The next day, the following day; used of temporal succession, especially in travel narratives in Acts.
A participle form of epeimi (to come upon) used almost exclusively in the temporal sense of 'the following day' or 'the next day.' All five NT occurrences appear in Acts, tracking Paul's missionary journeys and key narrative transitions. The French 'lendemain' and Spanish 'día siguiente' precisely mirror this temporal meaning. Luke uses it as a narrative hinge — marking the day Moses returned to find Israelites quarreling (Acts 7:26), and punctuating Paul's island-hopping itinerary across the Aegean (Acts 16:11, 20:15).
