V-PMA-3S  |  1× in 1 sense
to set, go down (of the sun)
A verb meaning to set or go down, used especially of celestial bodies. Ephesians 4:26 quotes Psalm 4:4 with a twist: 'Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down (ἐπιδυέτω) on your anger.' The literal astronomical phenomenon becomes a temporal boundary: anger must not persist beyond sunset. This marks a deadline for reconciliation, using the natural day cycle to limit the duration of human conflict.

Senses
1. sense 1 Paul uses the setting sun as a moral deadline. The multilingual glosses (Spanish 'se ponga,' German 'untergehen') preserve the astronomical imagery. The command acknowledges anger may arise but insists it cannot linger overnight. Each sunset should see reconciliation achieved, conflicts resolved. The daily rhythm of nature becomes a pattern for relational health: let no wrath survive the day's end.
