V-APA-NMS  |  6× in 1 sense
To go upon, set foot on, board (a ship), or step onto a place; physical movement of mounting or arriving.
Describes the physical act of stepping onto a surface, boarding a vessel, or arriving at a location by entering it. In classical Greek it could mean mounting a horse or treading on land; in the NT it appears chiefly in travel narratives involving sea voyages. Paul boards ships (Acts 21:2), sets foot on provinces (Acts 20:18, 25:1), and in Matthew 21:5 Jesus rides into Jerusalem mounted on a donkey. The Spanish 'habiendo-embarcado' neatly captures the maritime boarding sense, while 'montado' reflects the older classical nuance of mounting an animal.

Senses
1. go upon, board, set foot on To step onto, board, set foot upon, or mount — covering both the act of boarding a vessel for sea travel and arriving at a destination by entering it physically. In Acts, Luke uses it repeatedly for Paul's missionary journeys: boarding a ship at Troas (Acts 21:2), setting foot in the province of Asia (Acts 20:18), and landing at Caesarea (Acts 25:1). Matthew 21:5, quoting Zechariah 9:9, uses the participial form for Jesus riding mounted on a donkey. The Spanish splits between 'habiendo-embarcado' (having boarded) and 'montado' (mounted), reflecting the verb's dual classical range of sea-boarding and animal-mounting.
