V-AIA-2S  |  10× in 2 senses
To make known or visible; either to formally report/disclose information to authorities, or to reveal, manifest, and make apparent.
A verb with two distinct spheres of action in the New Testament. In the legal corridors of Acts, it describes the formal act of laying charges or reporting information to a Roman official -- the chief priests 'inform' the commander against Paul (Acts 23:15, 24:1, 25:2). But in the Gospels and Hebrews, it takes on a luminous quality: Jesus promises to 'manifest' himself to those who love him (John 14:21-22), risen saints 'appeared' in Jerusalem (Matt 27:53), and Christ now 'appears' before God on our behalf (Heb 9:24). The Spanish translations capture this split neatly: 'informaron' for legal reporting versus 'manifestaré' for divine self-revelation.

Senses
1. inform, report, make known Denotes the formal act of reporting, disclosing, or laying information before an authority figure. All five NT occurrences cluster in Acts 23-25, where it describes presenting charges or intelligence to Roman commanders and governors. The multilingual evidence is consistent -- Spanish 'informaron/informaste,' French 'présenter,' English 'make known' -- all pointing to an official, juridical register rather than casual communication.

2. reveal, manifest, appear Describes making something visible, manifest, or apparent -- whether through active self-revelation or passive appearing. Jesus uses it of his promised self-disclosure to faithful disciples (John 14:21-22), Matthew employs it for the startling appearance of risen saints in Jerusalem after the crucifixion (Matt 27:53), and Hebrews applies it both to Christ appearing before God (Heb 9:24) and to the patriarchs making clear their heavenly homeland (Heb 11:14). Spanish 'manifestaré' and German 'offenbaren' highlight the revelatory force absent from the legal sense.
