V-APP-NMP  |  2× in 1 sense
send out, send forth, dispatch
This compound verb means to send out or dispatch from a place. Acts uses it twice of missionary sending: in 13:4 the Holy Spirit sends out Barnabas and Saul, and in 17:10 the believers send Paul out to Berea. The prefix 'ek-' emphasizes movement outward from a starting point. Classical usage included sending forth messengers, dispatching armies, and even divorcing a wife (sending her away).

Senses
1. sense 1 Referring to sending out on a mission or journey, this sense emphasizes dispatch from a place of origin. Acts 13:4 describes the Spirit's initiative in sending missionaries forth, while 17:10 shows believers sending Paul away for safety. The consistent use for missionary sending captures the idea of being dispatched outward with purpose and authority.
