V-PMA-2P  |  4× in 1 sense
To be at peace; to live peaceably, to maintain harmony in relationships
Derived from eirene (peace), this verb calls for the active cultivation of harmonious relationships. Jesus commands it in Mark 9:50 ('be at peace with one another') right after the salt saying, linking peacemaking to communal preservation. Paul echoes this in Romans 12:18 with the realistic qualifier 'if possible, so far as it depends on you,' and again in 2 Corinthians 13:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:13 as a closing exhortation. French 'etre en paix' and German 'Frieden halten' both emphasize the sustained, intentional quality of this peace.

Senses
1. sense 1 To live in a state of peace and concord with others; to maintain or pursue harmonious relationships. In Mark 9:50 Jesus pairs this imperative with the metaphor of salt, suggesting that peaceableness preserves community. Romans 12:18 adds a sobering realism ('if possible'), while 2 Corinthians 13:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:13 issue it as a communal directive. The translations (spa 'tened paz/estad en paz,' fra 'etre en paix,' deu 'Frieden halten') consistently emphasize active, ongoing maintenance of peace rather than passive absence of conflict.
