Deloo is built from the adjective delos ('clear, visible') and means fundamentally to make something manifest or plain. In six of its seven NT occurrences, it appears in the active voice covering a range of revelatory actions: the Spirit of Christ 'indicated' (edelou) beforehand the sufferings of the Messiah (1 Pet 1:11), the Holy Spirit 'signifies' (delountos) that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed (Heb 9:8), the Day 'will make clear' (delosei) each person's work (1 Cor 3:13), and Epaphras 'made known' (delosas) the Colossians' love (Col 1:8). Spanish declarar/manifestar, French rendre evident, and German zeigen all orbit around disclosure and proof. The single passive occurrence in 1 Cor 1:11 — 'it was shown to me' (edelothe) by Chloe's people — shifts the perspective: now the subject receives rather than performs the revelation.
