Goggysmos denotes low-voiced, discontented muttering — the kind of complaint that circulates through a crowd rather than being voiced openly. In John 7:12, it describes the divided whispering about Jesus among the festival crowds. Acts 6:1 records the Hellenists' grumbling against the Hebrews over the daily food distribution. Paul warns the Philippians to do everything without grumbling (Phil 2:14), and Peter urges hospitality without complaint (1 Pet 4:9).
