securely, safely, with certainty; in a manner that is firm and reliable
This adverb means securely, safely, or with certainty. Judas sought opportunity to betray Jesus 'securely,' away from the crowd (Mark 14:44). Peter declares at Pentecost that all Israel should know 'assuredly' that God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36). The Philippian jailer is commanded to guard Paul and Silas 'securely' (Acts 16:23). The adverb emphasizes the firmness, reliability, or safety with which something is done. It can denote physical security measures or epistemological certainty of knowledge.

Senses
1. sense 1 Emphasizes secure, certain manner of action or knowledge. Mark 14:44 describes Judas arranging to betray Jesus 'securely' (ἀσφαλῶς)—away from crowds, minimizing resistance. Acts 2:36 has Peter declaring 'assuredly' (ἀσφαλῶς) that God made Jesus Lord and Messiah—with complete certainty. Acts 16:23 commands 'secure' (ἀσφαλῶς) guarding of Paul and Silas. The French 'sûrement' (surely), Spanish 'con-certeza' (with certainty), show the dual sense: both safe manner and certain knowledge.
