Denotes a person who lacks discernment or refuses to exercise understanding. Jesus uses it to rebuke his own disciples for failing to grasp a parable (Matt 15:16; Mark 7:18), while Paul applies it both to Gentiles whose thinking became futile (Rom 1:21, 31) and, quoting Deuteronomy, to a 'foolish nation' that provokes Israel to jealousy (Rom 10:19). Spanish 'sin-entendimiento' and French 'sans-intelligence' both capture the core idea of being 'without comprehension,' highlighting that this is a deficiency of spiritual perception, not merely low intelligence.
