To carry away, transport, or lead off from one place to another; used of physical removal and visionary transport.
Apophero means to carry or take away from one location to another. The word covers a surprisingly broad range of movement in the NT: the council leading Jesus away to Pilate (Mark 15:1), angels carrying Lazarus to Abraham's bosom (Luke 16:22), healing cloths being taken from Paul's body to the sick (Acts 19:12), and the collection being conveyed to Jerusalem (1 Cor 16:3). Most vividly, the Spirit 'carries away' John in visionary transport to see Babylon and the New Jerusalem (Rev 17:3; 21:10). Whether the movement is physical, angelic, or spiritual, the common thread is transfer from one place to another.

The term covers physical removal (Mark 15:1, leading Jesus away to Pilate; Acts 19:12, carrying cloths from Paul to the sick), post-mortem angelic transport (Luke 16:22, Lazarus carried to Abraham's bosom), practical conveyance (1 Cor 16:3, transporting the collection), and visionary relocation by the Spirit (Rev 17:3; 21:10). Spanish 'llevar/llevaron' and French 'emporter' reflect the straightforward carrying-away sense. German 'wegtragen' (carry away) captures the spatial separation inherent in the prefix apo-. 6×
