N-NFS  |  6× in 1 sense
A storehouse or barn for storing harvested grain; used figuratively of God's eschatological gathering or provision.
In the ancient Mediterranean world, the apotheke was the essential destination of every harvest -- the barn or granary where grain was safely stored. Jesus draws on this familiar image in strikingly different ways: to reassure anxious disciples that God feeds the birds without any barns at all (Matt 6:26; Luke 12:24), to picture the final separation of wheat and chaff (Matt 3:12; Luke 3:17), and to dramatize the folly of the rich man who builds bigger barns while ignoring his soul (Luke 12:18). The word thus bridges the everyday agricultural world and the theology of divine provision and judgment.

Senses
1. storehouse, barn, granary A structure for storing harvested grain or agricultural produce -- a barn, granary, or storehouse. Cross-lingual glosses confirm the agricultural specificity: Spanish 'granero' (grain-store), French 'grange' (barn), English 'barn/barns.' In every NT occurrence the image serves a theological point: God's care surpassing barns (Matt 6:26), eschatological gathering of wheat into the storehouse (Matt 3:12; Matt 13:30), or the rich fool's misplaced trust in storage (Luke 12:18).
