Recibir o aceptar algo ofrecido; también (Hifil) estar en correspondencia, hallarse uno frente al otro. Préstamo del arameo incorporado al hebreo tardío, este verbo abarca tanto el acto de recibir cosas tangibles (sangre, vasijas, plata) como la aceptación voluntaria de obligaciones o compromisos. En Job 2:10, Job pregunta si debemos recibir lo bueno de Dios pero no lo malo, una pregunta que resuena a lo largo de todas las tradiciones de traducción. Una forma Hifil más rara aparece en Éxodo 26:5 y 36:12 describiendo los lazos del tabernáculo que 'se corresponden' entre sí, preservando el sentido espacial original de la raíz aramea: estar cara a cara, en posición opuesta.
