N-fs  |  25× in 2 senses
A cart or wagon — a wheeled vehicle for transporting goods, people, or offerings; also the threshing cart rolled over grain.
Derived from the root idea of rolling (related to the round wheel), this noun denotes a wheeled cart drawn by oxen. It appears prominently in the Joseph narrative, where Pharaoh sends 'agalot' to carry Jacob's family to Egypt (Gen 45:19-27), and in the ark narrative, where a new cart transports the ark of God (1 Sam 6:7-14; 2 Sam 6:3). Spanish 'carreta/carretas' and German 'Wagen/Karren' consistently render the vehicle sense. In Isaiah 28:27-28 the same word appears in an agricultural setting, where the threshing cart is rolled over cumin and grain — a specialized but natural extension of the basic 'wheeled vehicle' meaning.

Senses
1. cart or wagon A cart or wagon — a wheeled vehicle drawn by animals for transporting persons, goods, or sacred objects. Central in the Joseph cycle (Gen 45:19, 21, 27; 46:5) where Pharaoh provides carts for the migration to Egypt, and in the ark narratives (1 Sam 6:7-14; 2 Sam 6:3; 1 Chr 13:7). Numbers 7:3-8 describes covered wagons ('agalot tsav') donated for Tabernacle transport. Spanish 'carreta/carretas,' French 'chariot,' and German 'Wagen' all confirm the standard vehicle sense. Amos 2:13 uses it in a simile of crushing weight. 23×

2. threshing cart wheel A threshing cart or its wheel, used as an agricultural implement for separating grain. At Isaiah 28:27-28 the prophet distinguishes proper threshing technique: cumin is not threshed with a cart wheel, and the cart is not endlessly rolled over bread grain. Spanish uses 'carreta/su carreta' here, and French leaves the Hebrew transliterated, but the context clearly specifies the cart's function as a threshing tool rather than a transport vehicle. This is a natural specialization of the rolling-vehicle concept applied to the threshing floor.
