Cubrir, revestir o artesonar con madera; guardar o reservar algo
El verbo סָפַן describe principalmente el acto arquitectónico de cubrir o revestir una estructura con madera, especialmente de cedro. Salomón cubrió el templo con vigas (1 Re 6:9) y las salas de su palacio fueron revestidas de cedro (1 Re 7:3, 7). Jeremías condena al rey que dice «me edificaré una casa espaciosa con salas artesonadas» (Jer 22:14), y Hageo pregunta si el pueblo debe habitar en «casas artesonadas» mientras el templo yace en ruinas (Hag 1:4). Una ocurrencia singular en la bendición de Moisés (Dt 33:21) emplea la palabra con el sentido de algo «reservado» o «guardado».

2. Reservar, guardar — Guardar, reservar o atesorar, extensión metafórica donde lo que está «cubierto» pasa a significar lo que se «guarda en reserva».
