A riding seat: chariot, saddle, or litter seat for mounted travel
This term denotes a seat or platform for riding—whether in a chariot, on an animal, or in a palanquin. Solomon's vast chariot forces required such equipment (1 Kgs 5). Leviticus 15 mentions it in purity laws concerning contact with a saddle used by someone with a discharge. The Song of Songs uses it for the seat of Solomon's ornate litter. The common thread is a constructed seat that elevates the rider, whether for war, transport, or ceremonial procession.

Senses
1. sense 1 A riding seat, chariot, or saddle. First Kings 4:26 (5:6 in Hebrew) records Solomon had 'horses for his chariots'—the riding platforms needed for his military force. Leviticus 15:9 states 'every saddle on which the one with the discharge rides shall be unclean'—the seat becomes ritually impure. Song 3:10 describes Solomon's palanquin: 'he made its seat of purple'—the cushioned platform within the litter. The French 'siège' and Spanish 'asiento' both mean 'seat,' capturing the functional commonality.
