Forehead, brow — the front of the head; figuratively, boldness or obstinacy
A masculine noun denoting the front of the head above the eyes, used both literally and as a powerful metaphor for character. In narrative, it is where David's stone struck Goliath (1 Sam 17:49) and where King Uzziah's leprosy broke out as divine judgment (2 Chr 26:19–20). In priestly legislation, Aaron wears a gold plate on his forehead bearing 'Holy to the LORD' so that the people's offerings may be accepted (Exod 28:38). Ezekiel's visionary mark on the foreheads of the righteous anticipates later apocalyptic imagery (Ezek 9:4). Metaphorically, a hard forehead signals shameless obstinacy — Israel's brow is 'bronze' (Isa 48:4) and 'harder than flint' (Ezek 3:7–9), while Jeremiah accuses the faithless nation of having a 'prostitute's forehead' that refuses to blush (Jer 3:3).

Senses
1. forehead The physical forehead or brow, and by figurative extension a symbol of boldness, defiance, or obstinacy. Literally: the place struck by David's stone (1 Sam 17:49), where leprosy appeared on Uzziah (2 Chr 26:19–20), where Aaron bore the sacred inscription (Exod 28:38), and where a protective mark was set on the faithful (Ezek 9:4). Figuratively: Israel's 'forehead of bronze' signifies stubborn rebellion (Isa 48:4; Ezek 3:7–9), and the 'forehead of a prostitute' marks brazen shamelessness (Jer 3:3). The prophet's forehead is made harder still, to match the people's defiance (Ezek 3:8–9). Spa 'frente', fra 'front', deu 'Stirn' all preserve the literal-to-figurative range. 13×
