Heart (Aramaic); the inner person, mind, or seat of understanding
This is the Aramaic equivalent of Hebrew לֵב, appearing in Daniel 7:28 where Daniel says 'my thoughts troubled me and my heart was changed' after his vision. In Aramaic as in Hebrew, the heart represents the center of consciousness, thought, and emotion. Daniel's disturbed heart reflects his psychological response to the terrifying visions—the revelations have shaken his inner being, altering his mental and emotional state.
Senses
1. sense 1 — The heart as the seat of thought and emotion in Aramaic, here expressing inner disturbance from apocalyptic vision. Daniel's changed or troubled heart indicates deep psychological impact—the visions have fundamentally unsettled him. Spanish 'en corazón de mí' (in my heart) and French 'dans mon coeur' (in my heart) locate the turmoil internally. The Aramaic term carries the same semantic range as its Hebrew cognate, emphasizing the heart as the integrative center of human personhood. 1×
