ceasing, transient; forsaken, lacking
An adjective of absence or cessation. The psalmist asks 'let me know how fleeting I am' (Ps 39:4, or 'how transient'). Isaiah describes the Servant as 'despised and rejected by men' (Isa 53:3, lit. 'lacking men' or 'forsaken by men'). Ezekiel distinguishes the one who 'hears' from 'the one who refuses' (Ezek 3:27). The Spanish frágil, rechazado and French abandonner, cesser reflect both temporal and relational dimensions: what is fleeting or what is forsaken. The word evokes lack—whether of time, support, or obedience.
