V-Hofal-Perf-3mp  |  16× in 3 senses
To come or arrive; in the causative, to bring someone or something; Aramaic verb used in Ezra and Daniel.
Atha is the standard Aramaic verb for motion toward a destination, the everyday equivalent of Hebrew bo. In Ezra and Daniel it covers the full spectrum of arrival and delivery. Officials 'come' to investigate the rebuilt temple (Ezra 5:3), dignitaries are summoned to 'come' to Nebuchadnezzar's dedication (Dan 3:2), and the enigmatic 'one like a son of man' comes with the clouds of heaven (Dan 7:13). The Haphel (causative) form shifts the action: Belshazzar orders the temple vessels 'brought' to his feast (Dan 5:2-3), and Daniel is 'brought' before the king (Dan 5:13). The Hophal passive completes the picture -- a stone is 'brought' and laid over the lions' den (Dan 6:17).

Senses
1. come, arrive To come or arrive at a place -- the basic Peal (Qal) sense of motion toward a goal. Used of officials arriving to question the builders (Ezra 5:3), of dignitaries summoned to a royal dedication (Dan 3:2, 26), and most memorably of the son of man 'coming with the clouds of heaven' (Dan 7:13). Spanish 'vinieron/viniendo' and French 'venir' confirm the straightforward arrival sense. Seven occurrences anchor the word's core meaning.

2. bring To bring or fetch -- the Haphel (causative) sense, where the subject causes someone or something to come. Belshazzar commands that the gold vessels be brought from the Jerusalem temple (Dan 5:2-3), and Daniel is brought before the king from exile (Dan 5:13). Spanish 'trajeron/trajo' and French 'venir' (in causative context) track this transitive extension. Seven occurrences make this exactly as frequent as the intransitive sense.

3. be brought To be brought -- the Hophal (causative passive), indicating the subject is conveyed or delivered without acting. Daniel is 'brought' and cast into the lions' den (Dan 6:17), and a stone is placed over the opening. Spanish 'fueron-traidos' and 'fue-traida' capture the passive voice clearly. Only two occurrences carry this form, but both appear at moments of high narrative drama.
