V-FIA-1S  |  6× in 3 senses
To bring to completion, finish; to be fulfilled or reach appointed conclusion; to accomplish or establish (a covenant).
Synteleō combines syn- ('together') with teleō ('to complete'), yielding the idea of bringing all parts together to their intended end. Luke uses it twice in the temptation narrative: the devil departed 'having completed' (syntelesas) every temptation (Luke 4:13), and the forty days 'having been completed' (syntelesthesisōn) signaled the onset of hunger (Luke 4:2). Spanish habiendo-completado and habiendo-terminado track this active finishing sense precisely. The prophetic-fulfillment use appears in Mark 13:4, where the disciples ask when all these things are 'to be fulfilled' (synteleisthai). Most theologically weighty is Heb 8:8, where God declares 'I will accomplish' (syntelesō) a new covenant — not merely finishing a task, but bringing to fruition the ultimate divine promise.

Senses
1. bring to completion, finish To bring to completion, to finish — actively completing a task, period, or sequence of actions. In Luke 4:13, the devil departs 'having completed' (syntelesas) every temptation, and in Luke 4:2 the forty days of fasting are 'having been completed' (syntelesthesisōn). Rom 9:28 uses it of the Lord carrying out and 'completing' (syntelōn) his word on earth. Spanish habiendo-completado and habiendo-terminado both capture this sense of bringing a defined process to its end.

2. be fulfilled, reach completion To be fulfilled, to reach divinely appointed completion — used in passive or middle voice for prophetic events or ritual periods reaching their destined conclusion. In Mark 13:4, the disciples ask when all the eschatological signs are 'to be fulfilled' (synteleisthai); in Acts 21:27, the seven days of purification were 'about to be completed' (syntelesthēsan). Spanish de-cumplirse ('to be fulfilled') and French achever ('to bring to conclusion') both convey the sense of destiny reaching its appointed moment.

3. accomplish, establish (covenant) To accomplish or establish a covenant — specifically of God's act of bringing a solemn agreement into effect. In Heb 8:8 (quoting Jer 31:31), the Lord declares 'I will accomplish (syntelesō) a new covenant with the house of Israel.' Spanish consumaré ('I will consummate') beautifully captures the weightiness of this covenantal use — not merely finishing something, but bringing to full realization God's ultimate redemptive promise.
