1. set free, liberate — To set free or liberate from bondage, slavery, or oppression — used in both active and passive voices across all tenses in the NT. Covers liberation from sin (Rom 6:18, 22 ἐλευθερωθέντες; Rom 8:2 ἠλευθέρωσεν), the promise of true freedom through the Son (John 8:32 ἐλευθερώσει; 8:36 ἐλευθερώσῃ), the eschatological liberation of creation from bondage to corruption (Rom 8:21 ἐλευθερωθήσεται), and Christ's act of freeing believers (Gal 5:1 ἠλευθέρωσεν). All multilingual glosses converge uniformly: Arabic حرّر, German befreien, French libérer/délivrer, Hebrew שחרר, Hindi स्वतन्त्र करना/छुड़ाना/मुक्त करना, Korean 자유케 하다/자유롭게 하다, Spanish liberar.
