To flee, escape — evading danger, divine judgment, or physical captivity
The verb ἐκφεύγω (ἐκ + φεύγω, 'flee out') denotes successful escape, whether from divine wrath, spiritual peril, or physical captivity. Paul warns the self-righteous that they will not 'escape' God's judgment (Rom 2:3), and the writer of Hebrews asks how anyone can escape who neglects so great a salvation (Heb 2:3). On the physical side, Paul himself escaped Damascus by being lowered in a basket through the wall (2 Cor 11:33), and the demoniac's overpowering of the sons of Sceva left them fleeing naked and wounded (Acts 19:16). Both senses share the core idea of getting out from under a threatening force.

2. flee, escape physically — To flee or escape from a physical location, captor, or assailant — bodily flight rather than avoidance of abstract consequences. Paul's dramatic nighttime escape from Damascus in a basket through a window (2 Cor 11:33), the jailer fearing prisoners had 'escaped' (Acts 16:27), and the naked flight of the beaten exorcists from the demoniac (Acts 19:16) all illustrate concrete, visible escape.
