V-PPM/P-GMS  |  5× in 1 sense
To pass through, travel through a region or place, journeying from one point to another
A verb of transit describing movement through a place or region on the way to somewhere else. In Luke's writings, Jesus is frequently depicted passing through towns and grain fields (Luke 6:1; 13:22), while Paul travels through cities delivering decrees (Acts 16:4). The multilingual evidence uniformly emphasizes traversal: Spanish 'atravesaba' (crossed through), French 'traverser,' and German 'hindurchgehen' (go through) all highlight the directional, purposeful quality of the journey rather than mere walking.

Senses
1. sense 1 To travel through or pass across a place, moving through territory on a journey. The consistent cross-lingual rendering -- Spanish 'atravesar,' French 'traverser,' German 'hindurchgehen' -- underscores that this is not aimless wandering but purposeful transit. Used of Jesus passing through grain fields on the Sabbath (Luke 6:1), journeying through towns toward Jerusalem (Luke 13:22), and a crowd passing by the blind man at Jericho (Luke 18:36). Paul's travels delivering the apostolic decrees also employ this word (Acts 16:4).
