N-GNS  |  2× in 1 sense
fine flour, wheat flour ground to powder for baking
This noun refers to finely ground wheat flour, the refined powder used for bread-making. Both occurrences appear in Jesus' parable of the leaven: a woman takes leaven and hides it in three measures of ἀλεύρου (flour) until the whole batch is leavened (Matthew 13:33; Luke 13:21). The parable illustrates the kingdom of heaven's pervasive influence—like yeast working through an entire batch of dough, the kingdom will transform the whole. The three measures (about 40 liters) represent a large quantity, enough for many loaves.

Senses
1. sense 1 The culinary term is rendered consistently: Spanish 'harina,' French 'farine,' German preserving the Greek root. Both Gospel accounts present identical parabolic contexts. Flour as the medium for leaven's work makes it central to the parable's imagery—the kingdom's transformative power works through the ordinary material of daily life, just as yeast works through flour to create bread.
