Refers to the deep, reverberating roar of thunder, consistently attributed in the Hebrew Bible to Yahweh's sovereign might. In the Psalms, 'Your thunder was in the whirlwind' (Ps 77:18) and 'I answered you in the secret place of thunder' (Ps 81:7) link thunder directly to divine encounter.
