Forma paralela del verbo común rum (ser alto, exaltado), que aparece en contextos de elevación física y exaltación divina. En la visión del carro-trono de Ezequiel, los querubines 'se elevaron' repetidamente (Ez 10:15, 17, 19), capturando el movimiento ascendente. Isaías 33:10 lo emplea para la autoexaltación de Dios: 'Ahora me levantaré.' Un uso distintivo ocurre en Números 16:45, donde se ordena a Moisés y Aarón 'apartarse' de la congregación antes de que caiga el juicio; aquí el movimiento ascendente se transforma en retirada física urgente.
