Adj-mpc  |  13× in 1 sense
Holy, sacred (Aramaic); used in Daniel of God, angelic watchers, and the eschatological 'saints of the Most High.'
The Aramaic equivalent of Hebrew קָדוֹשׁ, appearing exclusively in Daniel. It describes the divine spirit within Nebuchadnezzar's counselors as 'the spirit of the holy gods' (Dan 4:5–6, 15; 5:11), the angelic 'watcher' who descends from heaven (Dan 4:10, 14, 20), and — most consequentially — the קַדִּישֵׁי עֶלְיוֹנִין, 'saints of the Most High,' who receive an everlasting kingdom (Dan 7:18, 22, 25, 27). Spanish renders this santos, German heilig, and the theological weight is enormous: this one adjective bridges heaven and earth in Daniel's apocalyptic vision.

Senses
1. holy, sacred (Aramaic) Set apart, sacred, consecrated — applied in Daniel's Aramaic to three referents: the spirit of the gods dwelling in Daniel (Dan 4:5–6; 5:11), the angelic watchers sent from heaven's council (Dan 4:10, 14, 20), and the eschatological community ('saints of the Most High') who inherit dominion (Dan 7:18, 22, 25, 27). The consistent German heilig and Spanish santos across all uses confirm that a single core meaning — divine consecration — unifies these apparently distinct applications. Psalm 78:38's parallel Hebrew usage in the same manuscript tradition reinforces the theological continuity. 13×
