Adentro, hacia el interior; adverbio direccional que denota interioridad espacial, especialmente del templo
Formado con el sufijo direccional he sobre פָּנִים ('rostro'), פְּנִימָה significa literalmente 'hacia el rostro' desde la perspectiva de quien entra, es decir, 'hacia adentro' o 'por dentro'. La palabra aparece casi exclusivamente en descripciones arquitectónicas del espacio sagrado, especialmente el templo de Salomón (1 Re 6:18–30) y el templo visionario de Ezequiel (Ez 40:16; 41:3). Combinada con la preposición מִן significa 'desde adentro' (1 Re 6:19, 21), y con לְ significa 'hacia el interior' (Ez 41:3; 2 Cr 29:16). Su asociación con el santuario interior confiere a este término espacial, por lo demás común, una cualidad sacral: ir פְּנִימָה es aproximarse al lugar santísimo.
